Dom Lonsdale

Editor, researcher and publisher of Colne NearMe through MadeReal Design.

Why I created Colne NearMe

Local business information is often scattered between old map entries, social pages, company records and websites that have moved or disappeared. Colne NearMe was created to give residents one searchable starting point while keeping a visible distinction between researched information, owner-supplied details and paid placement.

What I am responsible for

I oversee listing research, duplicate handling, category decisions, correction requests, owner claims and the practical guides published on this site. Profiles are not upgraded simply to increase the page count: a standalone indexable profile needs a Colne-area address, a direct contact route, a substantial business-specific description and at least one recorded source.

How I approach local research

I prefer an official business site, recognised professional or regulatory register, local-authority record or another current source tied to the exact business. Where evidence conflicts, the uncertainty is recorded and the profile is held back rather than presenting a guess as fact. Opening times, prices and availability are treated as changeable and visitors are encouraged to confirm them directly.

Independence and corrections

A featured listing can buy visibility but cannot buy a favourable description, remove a legitimate correction or bypass the publication threshold. Businesses and residents can challenge an error through the correction form; ownership changes require reasonable evidence.
