Purpose
Colne NearMe helps people discover active businesses and useful services connected with Colne. It is not a review platform and does not rank businesses by claimed quality. The editorial aim is accuracy, useful context and a direct route for checking details.
Minimum evidence for an indexable profile
- A usable Colne-area address or clearly stated service connection.
- A direct telephone number or dependable customer-facing website.
- A substantial description specific to that business.
- At least one recorded research source tied to the exact identity.
Records that fail this threshold can remain in the private research backlog or on-site discovery data, but they do not receive the same search-engine publication treatment as a fully researched profile.
Preferred sources
First-party business websites, official registers, local-authority material, recognised trade or professional bodies and current operator pages are preferred. General directories and map results can support an address or telephone number, but weak or conflicting evidence is not used to invent services.
Descriptions and claims
Descriptions summarise supported products, services and practical contact information. Unsupported superlatives such as “best”, “number one” or “highly recommended” are rejected. A listing is not an endorsement, and no star rating is manufactured by Colne NearMe.
Opening hours
Hours are only displayed when a recorded source provides them. The source review date is shown separately, and every hours panel warns visitors to confirm before a special journey because seasonal and operational changes can happen quickly.
Photographs and logos
Business-specific photography and logos are published only when supplied by an authorised business, available from a source with suitable reuse permission, or already held with a clear publication basis. Images are not copied simply because they appear in a search result. Where no suitable image exists, a neutral monogram is used rather than a misleading stock photograph.
Corrections and right of reply
Anyone can report a factual error. Ownership claims, major identity changes and removal requests are reviewed before action. Evidence may include a business-domain email, official website update, register entry or another direct link to the operator.
Advertising separation
Advertisements are labelled and paid directory placement is marked “Featured listing”. Commercial payment does not change factual standards, research confidence or correction decisions.
